Sketchbook: Master Splinter's Soap Operas

Description

"I don't understand why you kame are fighting. You know my soaps start in five minutes."

Or something to that effect.

Introducing my human versions of Master Splinter and the turtles! Sorry if you think the coloring is sloppy. I had under thirty minutes to color this and usually it takes me forty-five.

Anyway, for our sketchbooks this week in art class, we could draw anything we want as long as it was school appropriate. So naturally, I decided to draw a scene from the first episode of TMNT: FF, Future Shellshock, where Splinter concludes the Turtles' brawl over what channel to watch by binding them in the carpet and taking the remote for himself to watch his soap operas. I wasn't in the mood to mind-screw myself and the teacher so I drew them with their feet in the carpet as well.

Differences from the scene in the show:
1. Splinter is sitting on the couch in the show.
2. The Turtles are on their feet yet still bound by the carpet.
3. Splinter and the boys aren't actual humans, I just lack the skill to draw rats and turtles.
4. Splinter does not refer to the boys as kame, which I'm assuming from clues given in the episode Fathers and Sons means 'turtle'.

I'm sorry if the boys look horrible. I can't draw sideways! And don't ask why Mikey has curly hair. I did the lineart at eleven at night. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Oh, and by the way, Donkey Kong Country may be my main item of art but Ninja Turtles was the first series I ever got fandomized, complete with a most favoritist/preferable character ever(hint: he like soap operas). I think I may even still have the action figures to prove it(I still got the katana, that's for sure)!

By the way, I don't think you can tell, but I gave Splinter slanted eyes to make his human self look more Asian since he's Japanese. He's also supposed to have a moustache like one would expect elderly martial artists to have but I forgot it. It'll appear in later pics, don't worry.
